Ethiraj College was founded in 1948. It had strong foundation through introduction of UG courses in Economics, Botany, Chemistry, History, Zoology and English Literature. The period of 1968 – 1978 brought the growth of the college with the commencement of Commerce, Math and Physics at the Undergraduate
level and a number of Post Graduation courses and the construction of PG block.
